Catching Up

Isaiah tore after the mermaid and Noah could barely keep up despite his longer legs. Somehow, as they crossed the landing toward the East wing of the house, they caught up with the mermaid for just an instant before it disappeared into the murky darkness yet again. But... how? Noah wondered... how could they possibly have caught up to a creature that could vanish in the blink of an eye?
